1. Take notes of impactful concepts when reading new material. Keep it short
2. Make a high-level summary of the most important concepts introduced in the associated notes of the reference you are working with.
3. Find patterns in the level 1 and level 2 notes and create permanent notes on their relations and deeper insights. Add value by finding patterns in existing notes.
4. Review and repeat

Other comments on categorizing notes: The note should be categorized based on the perspective of someone who is asking “In which circumstances do I want to stumble upon this note?”

Keywords should be based on the topic that you are interested in, not by looking at the notes in isolation.
